We have delivered food and hygiene items to 4000 people trapped in the encircled city of Sumy
Published: Apr 1, 2022 Reading time: 1 minuteWe continue to deliver humanitarian aid to the most affected regions of Ukraine. On Thursday, our trucks delivered food and hygiene items for 4,000 people in the encircled city of Sumy. The aid from People in Need was part of a convoy organized by the United Nations. This convoy brought much needed medicine, sanitation kits, blankets, kettles, water, and trauma kits to the city.
Thanks to the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, these supplies will be delivered to Sumy and other hard-to-reach areas in the north-east, including Trostianets and Okhtyrka. Thousands of people including children and hospital patients will receive this much needed aid.
In Sumy, the shelling and fighting have destroyed homes, hospitals and schools, cut off power and water, and prevented deliveries of food and other goods to the city. This is only second time that an aid convoy—including aid from PIN—has reached the city. The first convoy arrived in Sumy nearly two weeks ago. More here https://news.un.org/en/story/2022/03/1115252
