We've Updated Our Basic Education Indicators on IndiKit!
Published: Jul 2, 2024 Reading time: 3 minutesPIN has been supporting education around the world for nearly 25 years. We work with local education actors and communities to respond to sudden onset and protracted crises and strive to ensure the continuity of education and improved access to wellbeing support for all children.
PIN has recently undergone a lengthy process of reviewing its education indicators. Originally developed in 2016, we felt it was time for an update – to review the indicators themselves to make sure they aligned with existing frameworks, and to update the guidance to integrate current best practice.
Updating this guidance required a review of hundreds of existing indicators across a range of education actors, including the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE), the Global Education Cluster (GEC), ECHO, Education Cannot Wait (ECW), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and UNRWA as well as cross-sector indicators, particularly those related to the Child Protection Area of Responsibility (CPAoR). The indicators were carefully mapped and cross-referenced to come up with a comprehensive list of final indicators that covered the key thematic areas of education, including:
- Access to education and the learning environment
- Protection and wellbeing
- Teaching and learning; and
- Teachers and other education personnel
The updated indicators are now aligned with the INEE Minimum Standards, and INEE and ECHO’s Indicator Frameworks and have been reviewed by INEE, ECHO and the Global Education Cluster!
The indicators can be filtered by Results Area, Indicator Level and original Indicator Source to make it easier to find exactly what you’re looking for.
Our Basic Education Indicators are also now available in French, Spanish and Portuguese. For their wonderful translation support, we would like to thank our Alliance2015 partner Ayuda en Acción.
“Indikit made me pause and focus on the real impact I want my project to have. It provides the tools to ensure our actions are meaningful and measurable.” Michaela Guldanová, Head of Programmes, Armenia
