Invitation for the Forum 2000 Conference – Societies in Transition
Published: Sep 2, 2013 Reading time: 4 minutesThe People in Need Organization would like to cordially invite you to attend the 17th year of the Forum 2000 conference held in Prague from the 15th to 17th September 2013.
This year, the debates revolve around transition processes and the opportunities, problems and risks associated with them. The discussions will be focused on preconditions of transitions from authoritarian regime to democracy, on hindrance factors that play a role in transition processes as well as on specific features within particular countries and regions. This year’s Forum will host more than a hundred of distinctive global personalities primarily from the realms of politics, academia, media and culture. His Holiness the Dalai Lama, a spiritual leader and authority of Tibet; Aung Shan Suu Kyi, the Burmese opposition leader; Joan Baez, an American folk singer and activist; Frederik Willem de Klerk, a former President of South Africa and the Nobel Peace Prize winner; or Yoani Sánchez, a Cuban blogger and the opposition activist belong to the undisputed stars of the conference. The event will be accompanied by a series of special programme sessions, for example a photograph exhibition Tibet at the Crossroads displayed in the Knight’s Hall of the Žofín Palace.
The conference is open for the public free of charge however it is necessary to obtain an online registration which must be made directly on the conference website. The registration deadline is on 5th September 2013!
