Faraway, not Forgotten: Helping remote communities in DR Congo

Often, these places are reachable only on foot. Together with the European Union, we are fighting malnutrition and supporting health centres. Humanitarian workers from People in Need and the International Medical Corps recorded vlogs capturing their daily work in South Kivu.
Going the distance. The journey to Kahololo health centre is arduous. Our team reached their destination and filmed life there.
Congolese children die from malnutrition. We are working to stop this. We treat children with Plumpy’Nut—a highly nutritious peanut-based paste that is effective at combating malnutrition. Our team supplies remote health centres with this therapeutic food for children and brings hope to their families.
Child malnutrition is preventable, even in the most remote areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo. We provide cooking demonstrations to teach parents how to prepare a nutritious porridge from locally available ingredients, such as flour, oil, leaves, and fish.

Our team embarked on a gruelling 6-hour motorbike jour-ney to bring aid to those in need in Eastern DR Congo!
